HIV Connections: Sex, Drugs, and STDs

Grades 9 - 12

Course Description

Direct answers are given to commonly asked questions about sex, drugs, and HIV. Abstinence from drugs and sexual intercourse is supported as the safest way for teens to avoid pregnancy, STIs (STDs), and HIV. Classes discuss how HIV can and cannot be transmitted. The importance of antibody testing for persons suspecting infection is also included. Students analyze advertising messages and their effects on attitudes and behaviors. They also discuss communication styles to enable them to make informed personal decisions.
